Course Description

Course description:
This course is for people who want to work as clerical assistants in an office. The student will learn the skills needed to work in different office situations. He/she will learn to touch type, retrieve data from the computer, file documents, customer service, telephone techniques, data entry and analysis.

1. General office procedures
• sorting materials, documents, letters, and reports, for filing purposes
• standard business filing systems
2. Working with data
• Entering data in PC
• Analyzing and interpreting data
• Transcribing data
3. Customer service
4. Typing
• ability to accurately type and format documents using a computer and/or typewriter
• minimum of 45 words per minute with 90% accuracy.
5. Working with data and numbers
• perform simple numerical calculations.
• prepare and disseminate schedules for supervisors/co-workers, including duty rosters, work schedules, and travel schedules
• prepare budget requests, reports, summaries, etc, as needed
• compute payroll wages, taxes, premiums, commission, etc.
