Career opportunities in the medical billing field are everywhere. Jobs are available in physicians offices, health-clinics, hospitals and other health care settings. Medical billing is also an excellent business opportunity for those wanting to work from their home. With low start-up costs, and excellent profit potential, medical billing has been rated as one of the fastest growing businesses.

 

 

Course description
The objective of the course, part of a customized training program, is to provide students with a basic working knowledge of medical billing software, terms, conditions and applications.
The accounting and billing practice of a medical practice are all relying on the use of medical billing software. Individuals who have practical experience using patient billing software are more suited for these challenging tasks. Some individuals have chosen to open second jobs at home to process this data. Successful participants will be able to:
○ add new billing codes
○ input patient information
○ process patient transactions
○ produce various reports
○ print statements and insurance forms
○ process claims

○ Typing qualification test (Mavis Beacon typing, Mindscape, The Learning Co,)
○ Interactive keyboarding training (Mavis Beacon typing Mindscape, The Learning Co,)
○ Interactive training using case studies (Patient billing using Medisoft for Windows, Harpole, Glencoe, Inc.)

Content:

Prerequisites:

○ Typing 40 words per minute

Expected results:

○ Working knowledge of basic medical office terminology (words, codes, etc.)
○ Working knowledge of the Medi Soft patient billing system

○ 4 to 5 weeks, depending on student

-Adding new codes. Backing up data files.
Module 4 - Entering Patient and Date
