A. OBJECTIVES AND SUMMARY
  • Partnering is an agreement between principals in a construction project to work cooperatively as a team to identify and resolve problems and facilitate contract performance.
  • Partnering is a way of doing business (a management philosophy) that emphasizes an environment of trust, open communication, respect, creative thinking, pride in performance among the parties involved.
  • Partnering develops working relations among parties that focus on preventing disputes, creating a shared vision for successful project completion.
  1. To identify potential problems and take preventive and/or corrective action throughout the design, construction and implementation of a project.
  2. To improve the working relationship of those that constitute the project team.
  3. To assure that a project is brought in on time, within budget and with quality work.
  4. To encourage communication and keep everyone in the team involved
  5. To develop a positive business climate.
  • The Partnering Facilitation Program is designed to benefit both the individual and the organization through a comprehensive program that:
    • Emphasizes the impact of attitudes on personal and project performance,
    • Teaches required team building and certain project management skills
    • Stresses the criticality of goals and schedules in controlling projects and reaching project objectives.

C. PRESENTATION METHOD, DURATION AND MATERIALS

This program includes a facilitator from Management Resources (MRI) throughout the life of the project. MRI’S involvement is heavier at the beginning, usually reducing to a monthly follow-up meeting once the construction team becomes more proficient on the partnering facilitation process.

The program includes Partnering training, a Partnering Workshop and on-going project facilitation meetings. The process includes a dispute resolution process when necessary.
